Stargazing Live and our Children's event in February

According to Dara O'Briain there will be no BBC Stargazing Live in February 2018.

In order to help fill the gap left by the absence of Stargazing Live, we've taken the decision to adjust our Winter programe to encourage more people to "get outsde and get looking up." Seethin's Winter Skies

There'll be an additional weekend in February, on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th where we will open the Observatory and have as many telescopes as we can for you to look through.  On a clear evening, the Winter skies are breath-taking from Seething; away from the light pollution of Norwich you can really appreciate the beauty of our night sky.

The talks for this weekend will be about what you can expect to see, and where to look to find some of these magnificent objects.

To accomodate this, we've had to move the Children's event  from February to June.  We know how popular the Children's event was last year, but one criticism from our visitors, was that there was nowhere on site for people to warm up. Likewise, our magnificent volunteers who gave up their weekend to set up, run and then take down the event felt that being outdoors for 6 hours or more in February was a big "ask". The more volunteers we have, the better the experience we can provide, if we have too few members who feel that they can volunteer their time, then we run the risk of not being able to run the event at all.

By moving the Children's event to June, we stand a much better chance of being able to fully use our solar scopes, give our visitors a more pleasant experience, and add two additional opportunities this Winter for you to Stargaze Live!
