An astronomical stall for the #NorwichSciHunt
On Saturday 18th March NAS members joined with British Science Assoication (Norwich) volunteers to assist with a Science Treasure Hunt around Norwich City Centre to celebrate British Science Week.
There were 6 stalls "hidden" in various locations around Norwich, with a start point at the Forum.
The free to enter treasure hunt saw participants collect a map and follow clues to visit the 6 stalls, learning something at each stall.
Participants were given a stamp at each stall with 6 to collect. Those with all 6 stamps collected were entered into a prize draw.
We took the clubs PST Solar scope and some infographics about our nearest star, and had people at the stall almost non-stop from 10am until 4pm, learning about the sun and some astronomy too! We showed the scale of the solar system and the difference in sizes between our sun and VY Canis Majoris.
Despite the clouds, it was an excellent, busy time. Huge thanks to Sue and Debbie for helping out on the day.
Having hosted the @BritSciNorwich at Seething for our Children's Event, it was great to be a part of their "Treasure Hunt" in Norwich.
